A Legacy of Faith

Fr. Vineeth carries forward a remarkable spiritual heritage. Hailing from the historic Vattakunnel family of Kottayam—a lineage that has protected Christian ideals for generations—he is the 29th member of his family to be called to the Holy Priesthood. He is the son of Mr. Vattakunnel Abraham Kurian and Mrs. Mariamma Kurian (Kallooparambil family).

Formation and Ministry

His journey of service began at age 14 at the Kottayam Mar Elia Cathedral. Following years of disciplined study and pre-seminary discipleship at the Devalokam Catholicate Aramana, he graduated from the Orthodox Theological Seminary in Kottayam.
Fr. Vineeth was called to the priesthood on June 7, 2017, through the laying on of hands by His Holiness Baselios Marthoma Paulose II. His path to the altar was shaped by the tutelage of the Church’s most revered leaders, providing him with a deep foundation in the sacred liturgy and traditions of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church.

Leadership in Canada

A pioneer in the Canadian region, Fr. Vineeth had the distinct honor of serving as the first Diocesan Secretary for the newly formed Diocese of Canada (2024–2025).
In addition to his role as Vicar of St. John’s in Hamilton, he provides spiritual leadership to our sister congregations in Montréal, Sudbury, and Windsor. He is particularly passionate about nurturing the spiritual growth of university students and young families, ensuring that our ancient traditions remain vibrant and relevant in the Canadian diaspora.

“I am honored to walk alongside our faithful in Hamilton as we grow together in Christ’s love and the rich traditions of our fathers.”
