The Supreme Head of the Malankara Orthodox Church is the Catholicose of the East and Malankara Metropolitan, H.H. Moran Mar Baselios Marthoma Mathews III, based in Kottayam, Kerala, India. Our Parish is under the Diocese of Canada of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church. Previously, our Diocese was collectively known as the ‘‘Northeast American Diocese’. The Diocese of Canada is one of the 32 dioceses of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church. The diocese has jurisdiction over all parts of Canada. The diocese is headquartered at Toronto. The new diocese becomes effective on 1 November 2024. His Holiness Baselios Marthoma Mathews III is the current Metropolitan of our Diocese and His Grace Zachariah Mar Nicholovos serves as the Assistant Metropolitan. Meet Fr. Vineeth Vattakunnel Kurian, the Vicar of St. John’s Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church in Hamilton. He comes from the ancient Vattakunnel Family in Kottayam that has nurtured and protected the rich heritage of Christian ideals and principles for many decades, with 28 priests having been ordained from the family. Fr. Vineeth is the 29th priest from this family, and his parents are Vattakunnel Abraham Kurian and Mariamma Kurian from the Kallooparambil family in Manarcadu, Kottayam. Read more…
